| Southern rapper enjoys 'Money in the Bank'
Lil Scrappy knew his song Money in the Bank was, well, money in the bank the first time he played it in his car. Known in hip-hop circles as the Prince of Crunk, Scrappy isn't exactly a listening-party-with-record-executives type. When he finished Money in the Bank last fall, he took the song straight from the studio to the streets, stopping his car in an Atlanta parking lot, opening his doors and cranking the song at ground-shaking levels. "Everyone came running out of the office complex - they loved it!" Scrappy said. "I knew it was a hit! That was hot." Months later, Scrappy is just as hot and just as money. No longer a prince, he's a headliner behind the strength of Money in the Bank and his first full-length album, Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live. The parking-lot test market of about a dozen people was unscientific but totally reliable: Within a few weeks, Money's slow-burning knocks, bumps and synthesized bleeps along with its ringing cash registers and Scrappy's repetitive screwed-up-style hook - "I got money in the bank.
Student art sought for keepsake coin
The Lakes Restoration Committee is looking for local student art submissions for its 2007 commemorative coin, to be raffled off at the annual Party for the Lakes event in August. Deadline is April 2.The committee wants student submissions this year to help get students involved, said Cathy Rofshus, outreach director for the Shell Rock River Watershed District. The money raised from the coin sales and auction goes back to local schools and school projects, such as local rain gardens."That student (whose art is chosen) is helping raise money for school projects," Rofshus said. Each coin sells for $25, and only 300 are made. The sterling silver minted No. 1 coin is auctioned off at the party and last year brought in $3,100. The auction and sale usually net about $7,000, Rofshus said. The coin will feature the chosen submitted art on one side and the committee's logo, the coin number, and the year on the other side. The submission should reflect local lake and river scenes.
Bomb was just foot powder, but robber gets some money
Police are still searching for a woman after a bizarre gas station hold up early Friday morning. Lafayette Police Sgt. Tom Rankin said the woman walked into the Circle K on the corner of Earl Avenue and Ferry Street about 2:34 a.m. and told clerks she had a pipe bomb she would set off if they called police. She also wielded what she called a knife, but clerks later said it was more like a metal yardstick. The woman left the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and walked south toward Ferry Street. The bomb the woman claimed to have was later found by police in a trash can on the property and disposed of by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad. Tippecanoe County Lt. Ron Faith said it turned out to be a can of foot powder. Rankin said his officers reported it was wrapped in electrical tape and newspaper when the woman had it in the store.
Money expert to speak
Dave Ramsey, the nationally syndicated radio talk-show financial adviser, will appear this afternoon at Freeman Coliseum. Ramsey is author of the 2003 New York Times best-seller "Total Money Makeover." KTSA-AM radio airs the three-hour Dave Ramsey program on its weekday afternoon lineup. Ramsey also made appearances in San Antonio on Friday at KTSA-AM and WOAI-TV. In his late 20s, Ramsey lost a $4 million real estate portfolio that was heavily dependent on short-term debt. That experience put him on a quest to better understand wealth creation and in 1988 he formed a biblically based company in Nashville to advise others on how to get out of debt and build equity. His first book, "Financial Peace," tells the story of his financial crisis and recovery.

Evolution Schematic 04.04.07: Money In The Bank.
It's like The Royal Rumble. Except with 6-8, not 30 entrants. Oh, and it's one fall. With a ladder. And at WM, not RR. And the title shot is valid for one year...Actually, it's nothing like the Royal Rumble, is it. Oh yes, I'm back... Overview Every tradition must have a beginning. For every long standing, beloved institution, there was, in it's past, a new, still finding it's legs seemingly regular occurrence. There must be a start, for there to be a journey. Often, for such a journey to be powerful and memorable, the start must be small, and at the time unnoticed. To have an avalanche, a single snowflake must fall. But this is not always the case. For there are times when tradition begins with power, and impact. Times when things start big and only get bigger. Times when you know Tradition is being born, and you can say I Was There' soon after, not in many years time.
