Cell phone conversations you'd rather not hear

Okay. Right here. Not too crowded. I have about two hours until boarding. My book, a bottle of water, some roasted almonds and this chair. Flip open the pages. Where was I? ''I'm right here. It's OK. I love you. I will never leave you ''

Hold on one minute. Who is this and what's she doing with that cell pho ... oh, jeez.

Spartan Motors: Money in the Bank

Daniel Andres Jacome submits: Spartan Motors (SPAR) is Michigan-based manufacturer of chassis (chas-seez) for RVs, emergency vehicles, and military trucks.

There are three key drivers we think are going to hit Spartan's bottom line like a ton of bricks.

1) Baby Boomers: Everyday, 55,000 people hit retirement age. These people have money and they want to spend it outdoors, not in a Bingo lounge. Demand for RVs has skyrocketed as a result and SPAR is in the driver's seat.

2) Firetrucks: Post 9/11, safety concerns have increased the amount of federal funding allocated to fire truck replacements. That's because 54% of fire trucks in the US are at least 15 years old; 33% are 20 years old. This is a huge liability no fire department wants to get stuck with and I think we're on the cusp of a major fleet replacement cycle.

A new indie music label wants to shake up the stagnant Egyptian ...

This is not your typical office — but then again, this isn’t your typical businessman. Clad in Diesel jeans and a T-shirt, Mohamed Ghorab sits in a pale blue office with velvet red chairs and talks boisterously with two men about revenue and expenditure. A stickler for details, Ghorab is the mastermind and CEO of Hybrid Records, an independent record label that wants to bring class back to Egyptian music, with a melodic and very contemporary twist, naturally.

The nation’s music scene has seen a significant decline since the glory days of yore, but it hasn’t been for a lack of talent. As an example, Ghorab points to the Egyptian Center for Culture and Art, aka Makan, which he says “has a huge collection of folkloric and old music.”

Ghorab came up with the idea for Hybrid Records with co-creator and San Francisco-based Ahmed Azzam, who holds the title of producer.
